Back on track…

Baby Will ArrivesSorry it’s been so long since my last post.  For the first two weeks, I was in full baby-prep mode and needed every free moment to get organized for the big day.  Our newest addition arrived on April 4th and (thanks to my doting Mom) I’ve spent the last 10 days recovering and thoroughly enjoying every minute of his little life.  He’s a beautiful, healthy, chubby guy and I feel incredibly blessed to have him join our family.

Now that I’m back on my feet, I hope to be back on track with my weekly blogging as well.  Just to warn you - little Will seems to have a knack for getting hungry as soon as my laptop hits my lap - so my posts may be a bit sporadic for a few weeks.  If you haven’t already, you may want to subscribe to my new posts via Feedblitz.  It’s a free service that will deliver all new posts directly to your inbox.  I’ve got lots of great posts on the docket for the next few weeks and I’d hate for you to miss them.  You can find the Feedblitz subscription link on the right.

Thanks for your patience and your well wishes, everyone.  I’ll be in touch!

I’m back…

Hey everyone.  I’m sorry I’ve neglected posting for so long.  I’ve had to jump a lot of hurdles in the past four weeks.  I won’t bore you with the details, but let’s just say it involved three birthdays, Christmas (and all the craziness that comes with it), an upcoming article, and a trip across the country…oh, and did I mention I’m six months pregnant with my fourth child?  The good news is that other than this little guy (due to arrive in early April), my schedule looks relatively clear and I should be back to regular posting.

Remember, if you ever get sick of rechecking the blog to see if there’s anything new you should sign up for my free Feedblitz subcription (you can find the link on the right).  Once you sign up, all my new posts (generally one or two a week) will be delivered straight to your email inbox.  You can cancel at any time and your email address will be protected by the hefty Feedblitz email protection policy.

It’s a new year, so I’ve decided to add a few blog improvements to my annual resolution list.  Over the course of the next few weeks, you may notice a few changes on MeckMom.com.  First off,  I hope to post more regularly.  Believe it or not, I’ve got about fourty great organizing/simple solution ideas in my drafts folder just waiting to be refined and posted.  My goal for this year is to add at least one of these each week.  I know you guys love these so I promise to keep them coming!

I’m also planning to add in a ‘Talk To Me Tuesday’ post.  Some of my favorite tips and suggestions have come through your fabulous comments over the years.  You guys are brilliant and I fully intend to take advantage of your valuable feedback by posing a simple solution-type question to you every Tuesday.  I’m hoping that you guys will comment like crazy and consequently create a mini-forum area on that topic.  You should see the first ‘Talk To Me Tuesday’ post go up later today.

Several of you have requested copies of my previously published organizing articles, so I’ll be adding those to the site soon as well.  You’ll also see a few more product reviews, blog recommendations, MeckMom Store products, and give aways in the future.

Overall, in 2008, I hope to create more of what you love here on MeckMom.com — simple, inexpensive ideas and free file downloads designed to make your everyday life a little easier.  If you have any questions or would like me to focus on any specific area in the coming weeks, please feel free to shoot me an email at questions@meckmom.com.  I’d love to hear from you.

Thanks for sticking with me over my December posting drought and thanks for passing my site on to your family and friends.  My readership has doubled in the last year and I owe all of that to you guys.  Thanks!  More to come soon…just thought I’d pass it on.

MeckMom Store Shipping Update

Site Updates, Store 2 Comments »

Priority EnvelopeI just wanted to let all of you know that I’ve been alerted to a small problem with the PayPal checkout process in the MeckMom store.  Apparently it is charging $10 for large orders instead of the standard USPS Priority flat rate of $5.  If you process your order and are charged the $10 shipping fee, please know that I will immediately refund the extra $5 back to your PayPal account.  Only international orders will be charged the $10 rate.  We are working on the problem and expect have it fixed within the next few hours.  Thanks for your patience, everyone.  And thanks to Kelly for pointing out the problem.  Take care.

*UPDATE:  This error was corrected at 7pm on December 3, 2007.  Thanks.

Finally…an Organizing Magazine for Real People

Home Organization, Site Updates, Products I Like No Comments »

Organize MagazineAs you may have noticed, my posts over the past few months have been a little irregular. Belive it or not, I actually have a really good excuse for my procrastination…I’ve been writing.

Earlier this year, I was approached by a new national magazine to write an organizing article for their inaugural issue. The founders of the magazine had read my blog and thought that my overall approach to organization fell in line with the mission of their magazine…to offer doable organization projects for real people with real lives. Naturally, I was thrilled to have the opportunity.

Several months and many edits later, I am still writing (hence my lack of posts lately). I am currently working on my third article for ORGANIZE magazine. It’s been a lot of work, but the result is well worth it. The magazine is fabulous and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.

Granted, I’m a bit biased, but I can honestly say that after seeing the preview for the inaugural issue I would subscribe in a heartbeat. Not only are the articles down to earth and doable, but the advertising for various organizing tools and websites function as a great resource as well.

Please don’t misunderstand my intentions here; I’m not trying to sell you anything. I don’t make any money from this plug and the creators of the magazine did not ask me to promote it on my blog. I just love the whole concept of the magazine and wanted to recommend it to my readers. The first issue comes out in June. Although it will be carried across the nation by various distributors, I highly recommend getting your own subscription. The price is only $20 for the entire year.

If you’d like to see a preview of the magazine or if you’d like to subscribe, just visit their website: http://www.organizemag.com/. I hope you enjoy it. Just thought I’d pass it on.

Many of you link to my site via RSS, but I’ve learned that some of you would prefer a more direct method. As of today, I’ve added an email subscription link on my sidebar.

Subscribers will receive an email each time I add a new bright idea to the blog. If there are multiple postings on one day, they will be combined into one email before being sent. The email will include the latest postings as well as a link to get back to the site. I generally try to post once a week, so you can assume around 4 or 5 emails each month.

The service is powered by FeedBlitz. They were recommended by Blogger so I would assume their privacy policy is solid. However, if you’d like to check it out I’ll list the link below. Thanks again to Erika for pointing this service out to me. I’m always happy to add another bright idea to the blog.
