Friday’s Find: Delicious Diet Popsicles

The only thing better than finding a scrumptious new dessert is finding one that’s only 80 calories.  I grabbed these weight watchers popsicles at the store last week and I’m totally hooked.  They remind me of the raspberry Fannie Mae chocolates I used to sneak out of my Mom’s stash when I was little. I’m generally not a fan of chocolate-covered ice cream stuff.  The chocolate layer is always too thick and waxy tasting.  In this case, the dark chocolate is thin and sorta crispy – making it the perfect...

Cooler Kid Food in an Instant

We parents are mega multi-taskers.  Just yesterday, I was “making” (I should call it microwaving) my son lunch while holding the baby on my hip, talking on the phone to the realtor, policing my two-year old in time-out, and cleaning the counters.  As is common with me when I’m juggling this many tasks at once, at least one of those tasks is bound to drop.  In this particular case, it was the mac & cheese in the microwave.  I was in too big of a hurry to set the timer so it cooked for far too long, resulting in...

Lovin’ These Links

Sorry for the two week silence, everyone.  We amped up our house hunt lately so all my late-night blogging hours have been consumed by MLS research.  Thankfully, we just put a bid on a house this weekend.  With any luck, all will go well and I can reclaim my nights…at least until the move-in day. Here a are a few of the sites featured on my facebook page in the last few weeks.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.  If you do, don’t forget to leave comments for these incredibly talented, hard-working bloggers.  We live for...

Friday’s Find – My Favorite Totally-Unnatural Energy Booster

Last night I was up until about 1:30 catching up on emails.  At 5:15 my oh-s0-charming baby woke up bright-eyed and brimming with energy.  At last, around 7:45 he finally started yawning.  Sadly for me, that’s the exact same time my other 4 kids’ days are just beginning. Since I have two little guys that sleep on totally opposite schedules and big kids who need rides, homework help, and dinner, a nap never really works out for me.  On days like this, I really only have two options: go through the day groggy and grumpy or find...

Tech Tuesday – Three Cheers for Stick Dog

The only thing better than enjoying a great book with your kids is enjoying a great FREE book with your kids. When I found this book in the iPad library I knew my kids would be fans…after all, the illustrations look just like their drawings. I read this little book aloud to my kids over a few nights and they thought it was hysterical.  Seriously, laugh-out-loud funny.  The story revolves around the misadventures of 4 stray dogs in search of a hot meal – in this case big, juicy hamburgers. The book is written in a casual,...

Happy blogiversary!  As of last week it’s been 5 big years for me on MeckMom.  When I started this project I had no idea I would enjoy it so much…or that anyone would ever read it.  The funny thing is when my husband tried to convince me to start a blog 5 years ago I remember saying, “what do I when I run out of ideas?”  Thankfully, that hasn’t happened just yet.  :)  Thanks for sticking with me, guys.  Your comments and feedback make all the late night posting totally worthwhile. Here a are a few of the...

It’s Great to be 8! A New Baptism Printable

See this lovely, sweet daughter of mine?  Somehow, she sort of grew up overnight.  She used to be so little and chubby – now, all of a sudden, she’s 8 and ready to take on the world. In the LDS faith (that’s my religion, you can click here for more info on it) an important event takes place around the 8th birthday, their baptism.  Just like in any religion, a LDS child’s baptism is a big deal.  It begins her official entrance into the Church and her commitment to live the gospel and choose the right. I really...

Friday’s Find – Two Sites that Save Me Money

I’m not a big coupon user.  I probably should be but it all seems so tedious.  Searching, cropping, sorting, organizing…all to save $.35 on a jug of orange juice?  I’m far too lazy for that.  Maybe that’s why I like these two deal sites so much.  They offer me all the savings without all the hassle. The first site is CityDeals CityDeals is pretty self-explanatory,  they send me daily deals via email and I purchase anything that grabs my eye.  I can either print the deals immediately or have them mailed to me....

Help Kids Focus with this Simple Trick

Elementary School is sort of rough on parents.  A lot of the homework required demands parent interaction.  Listening to reading, quizzing on math facts, helping with spelling words, checking worksheets, finishing dioramas…they all require my direct supervision.  Since I have three in elementary school (2nd, 3rd, & 5th) my nights often seem to be an endless homework session. All of my kids need my help at one time or another so sending them to their rooms to finish homework just isn’t an option.  We set up a homework table...
