Simple Trick for Tissue Issues
As I mentioned last week, we’ve had more than our share of sickness lately. Between the seven of us, we’ve burned through a lot of tissues. However, mysteriously, I seem to be the only one that can manage to get them into the trash can. I find used tissues stashed by the sides of their beds, wadded up near the couch and pretty much everywhere else a tissue box is stashed. I hate picking up the nasty little tissues as much as the next Mom, so I came up with this simple trick for making a mobile trash bin for used...

Amy from Utah wrote to me this week for help with her medicine supply cupboard. Here’s an excerpt from her email… I am out of room for all the stuff that has to be in the meds cupboard, we purge the contents of the bins as the needs change, but it still leaves me with a mess. Now I have 4 bins above my microwave, one for my meds and medical needs, one for the kid’s things, one for pain relievers (Tylenol, Tums, Motrin etc…) and one for the misc. things- band-aids, Benadryl, disposable thermometer covers, motion sickness...

Sorry my posting has been a bit erratic, guys. I’m a little sleep deprived lately so I tend to collapse on the couch whenever I get a quiet minute. Unfortunately this crazy newborn-driven sleep schedule eats into my blogging time. Hopefully that will improve a little each week as my little guy figures out how to sleep for more than a few hours at a time. It’s Monday again. Time for a recap of a few fabulous ideas from around the web. All of these sites were featured on my Facebook fan page last week so, if you haven’t had a...
read moreThe Best Burp Cloths Ever
This particular tip comes from years of experience. Not general mothering experience, mind you. I mean experience walking into church, a store, or the kids’ school only to find that I’ve got lovely patch of baby spit-up hanging out on my shoulder. I’ve tried tons of different burp cloths over the years but nothing really seemed to work. Even the washable diapers everyone raved about didn’t actually absorb anything. For the most part the spit-up just sat on top of the fabric, which inevitably found its way back...

Well, I survived the week – thanks in part to my awesome sister-in-law who flew all the way from Utah to meet our new little addition. She even managed to make phenomenal cake-batter french toast for the entire family before she took off for the airport today. Such a great way to start the week! I’ll have to get her to share the recipe with us on the blog someday – so scrumptious. Needless to say, she was a huge help and we’ll miss her terribly. We love you, Mary! So, it’s Monday again. Time for a recap of...

Yesterday my husband had to take our new son to the doctor for a routine check up and was presented with a dilemma. He knew he’d need to bring diaper changing supplies but had no desire to tote my cute, melon-colored purse along with him. I couldn’t send him to the doctor empty-handed so I showed him one of my favorite mom-tested tricks. I grabbed a diaper and a thin pack of wipes and tucked them into the lining of the baby’s car seat. Viola! Instant access to the supplies he needs without compromising his tough,...

It’s official. I’m now a mom of five fabulous little kids. This week we welcomed the newest Eckersley to our house. Little Man Sam as we’re calling him is a delightful little bean-bag of a baby. He’s tiny, wrinkly, and has a full head of dark hair. We couldn’t be happier. Luckily he’s still in that sleepy stage and my wonderful Mom is here catering to my every need so the full weight of being a mom of five hasn’t really set in yet. I imagine the panic will hit me right around the time her...
