Tech Tuesday – Three Cheers for Stick Dog

The only thing better than enjoying a great book with your kids is enjoying a great FREE book with your kids. When I found this book in the iPad library I knew my kids would be fans…after all, the illustrations look just like their drawings.

I read this little book aloud to my kids over a few nights and they thought it was hysterical.  Seriously, laugh-out-loud funny.  The story revolves around the misadventures of 4 stray dogs in search of a hot meal – in this case big, juicy hamburgers.

The book is written in a casual, conversational tone and my kids ate it up.  When I would stop at a chapter break they would beg me to keep going (of course that may have been simply to stall bed time but let’s give them the benefit of the doubt).  They liked it so much that as soon as we finished I immediately downloaded the sequel: Stick Dog Wants a Frankfurter.  They adored that one too.

The good news is you don’t have to own an iPad to enjoy this belly-laugh inducing book.  You can find it on most eReaders and in several spots online.  On BigDifBooks you can either view it on your computer or print out your own copy – both options are free.  Fun family entertainment all for the price of …well…nothing.  It’s tough to beat that.  Just thought I’d pass it on.

    Hi, Maria.

Every couple of weeks, I do a quick Google on my book titles to see if anybody is writing about them — and I came across your blog post. What a great site this is.

Thanks for the nice comments about my nutty Stick Dog stories. It’s great knowing that kids are reading them and getting some laughs. I’m glad they enjoyed the narrative voice — I worked hard to get it right — and I’m glad they get the off-beat humor (not everybody does …). Posts like yours motivate me to carve out the time to keep working on them.

You can let your kids in on a secret that only my family and few other readers know: The next Stick Dog book is going to be about their search for pizza. It’s about a month away.

Thanks again for the nice words.
