Clever Treats for a Halloween Class Party

Thanks for you patience last week while I prepped for my latest Wanda-style Halloween party.  It was a big success.  I tried lots of new twists and challenge ideas this year and I can’t wait to tell you all about it next fall.

Speaking of Halloween, if you’re in the market for a sweet treat to send in for your kid’s Halloween party next week, you might want to check out this cool site.  I first came across Bakerella a few months ago when I was following links from a ‘photography tips’ site.

I was quickly won over by her adorable collection of cupcake pops.  Not only are they clever and fun, but they’re made from a cake mix – which is right up my ‘quick and easy’ alley.  I tagged the site but sort of forgot about it until yesterday when I was searching for fun food ideas for elementary school parties.  When I caught a glimpse of her awesomely bad Halloween pops, I knew I’d found what I was looking for.

They’re the perfect sweet treat for elementary-age kids…easy to handle, colorful, and a huge step up from the boring orange cupcakes you can pick up at the grocery store.  I was able to buy all the supplies I needed to make a big batch at WalMart for under $8.  I haven’t put them together yet, but thanks to Bakerella’s detailed instructions, I’m hopeful that I can pull them off.

If you’re on the list to send in treats next week, you might want to give these little charmers a try.  Just thought I’d pass it on.

  1. Why do we have to wait until fall to hear the party summary? P.S. I, humbly, still think I should have won the contest.

  2. I’m with Lisa…why wait till next year?

  3. Witchy Wanda

I can think of one BIG reason she is waiting til next year. She has a baby! Time is hard to come by with a baby around.

I have a new baby and I am behind on just about everything, probably because I hosted another Wanda Witch party for our Young Women this year but mostly cause of the baby.

I can wait until next year.

  4. Ugh, I hate that our schools have a store-bought only policy on all goodies at school. Oh well, I can make them for my kids anyway.

  5. My neighbors had a dessert party after our Stake Conference Adult Session and they served those, but they were just chocolate. They said that they served them at their daughters wedding but dressed them up to go with the rest of the wedding… so not just for Halloween. And if anyone is wondering they are soooo yummy!

  6. I have made these several times and they are always a HUGE hit!
