Well I have no scum on my shower at all and it saves all that scrubbing and tears.
I use a really lovely range of shower gel, shampoo and conditioners that are healthy for me and my family and that DO NOT leave any scum on the shower. Just a simple wipe down to dry the water off walls door etc and NO SCUM!!!
If anyone wants info about my products. Feel free to email me on alwayshealthy@xtra.co.nz . I would love to help.

After years with glass shower doors I was using Jif (Australia) which worked with a little bit of elbow grease until recently I discovered lemon oil will wipe off scum without any effort and leave a lovely smell in the bathroom.

Hey, just wanted to say, that my "cleaner" of choice in the shower is cheap shampoo. I learned this trick from Flylady. Think about it, if the shampoo can cut through hairspray and stuff, it cuts through soap scum as well... isn't that what soap scum is? Remnants of hairspray and such. I also use a dry erase pad, and to reach those high up spots, I use my mop with the dry erase head on it. You can find them at the dollar stores for about $8. And they last.

I will second the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner. I use CLR in the yellow bottle on the tough soap scum that accumulates when I'm delinquent pushing the button on the auto cleaner.

I love, LOVE, Barkeeper's Friend (powder and liquid) for everything! Especially to get sticky, dehydrated leftovers off the kitchen countertops, and it really shines my stainless steel sink. And gets the water residue off the faucet with a toothbrush.

The best and easiest thing I have used for shower/tub surfaces is a wet dryer sheet. Just lather it up with water and scrub. It gets soap scum off well and costs almost nothing!

I will have to second the Magic Eraser (even the cheap ones from the dollar store) for shower doors. I don't use a cleaner with it either. Just wipe down the doors a couple times a week with it does the trick.

I don't have one right now because mine broke but I LOVE to use the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner. It's really easy to use...just push the button when you get out and it sprays most of the shower (it doesn't spray higher than itself). But it helps to keep the soap scum from building up. I used it on a shower door that wasn't clear so I don't know how it looks on a clear on but I LOVED it in mine! It helped the overall cleaning process...less to scrub in the long run. Maybe it'll work for you!

I love using Lemi Shine for my shower. Fill a spray bottle with 1/4 cup of Lemi Shine, add water (about 16 ounces). Spray the solution on your shower door, let it sit, then clean with a sponge and rinse. Lemi Shine also works great for cleaning the toilet, and let's not forget it's power and wonder in the dish washer. I blogged about it here:
http://ajshermanfamily.blogspot.com/2008/01/household-product-i-can-not-live.html
I am huge believer in this stuff. I really love that it is all natural.

In regards to grout cleaning: My family all got battery powered spinning toothbrushes for Christmas. It occurs to me that one of those might be great for cleaning grout. I can't try it- I have flat walls in both showers. But someone might give it a try (I'd put a label on the toothbrush to avoid any gnarly dental moments.)
