Laminator Update
Wed, Sep 5, 2007
So it appears that Wal Mart no longer carries the cool little laminator that I mentioned in my last post. Sorry to have led you guys astray. Although I can’t seem to find that particular laminator on any other site, I did a little research last night and found a few good alternatives. Both of them are under $50 and received good consumer reviews. I’ll post the links for you below. If you’re in the market for laminating supplies, you may want to check out the pouch prices at laminator.com. They’re 3 for the price of 2 deal on laminating pouches is a steal. Much better than the price I’d been getting at Wal Mart and Sams. Just thought I’d pass it on.

Based on your last post I planned a trip to Walmart. (The nearest one to us is 1/2 hour away.) I found a Scotts? brand laminator for about $25 and laminating sheets in different sizes for $2.50ish-$7.77. It was located in the office supply section. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet so cannot speak to how well it works.

These guys seem to have a pretty decent selection of laminators. It may be worth a look: http://www.officezone.com/lamp.htm They have a lot of film too: http://www.officezone.com/pchstand.htm

I just went to walmart today and they had one of the duck brand laminators left. They do have one by 3m (Scotch) brand for 24.00 and it seems to work great! Just thought I would let you know. My girlfriend bought it too and loves it as well.

I looked at laminator.com for the pouches you suggested, buy 2 get 1 free. Then, I saw that if you buy high volume, (the option right below the buy 2 get 1 free offer) you get it at an even better deal. A 100 Pack of 5mil is $13.99 and a 200 pack of 3 mil is $15.99. Which thickness do you suggest?

i’m correcting my last comment. if you are only planning on buying 1 box of laminating sheets, the high volume route is best, but if you’re going to buy 2 boxes anyway, go with the buy 2 get 1 free deal.

I also tried Walmart
I’m using the Fellowes Mars ML-125 Pouch Laminator http://www.ishoplaminators.com/product/Fellowes-Mars-ML-125-Pouch-Laminator
It’s a little bit more at $65, but worth it to be able to laminate stuff over 12 inches wide.

I bought my scott’s laminator from walmart almost a year ago. So far I haven’t had any problems with it. The first one I bought from target (can’t remember the brand) it didn’t even last a year.
